It’s extraordinary to consider the death of God being a Christian phenomenon! For truly, all our Gods die. The only hope is resurrection. That is, the real God, overcoming death, subverting all our preconceived ideas, and blowing wide all our categories. René Girard says, "In its modern sense, atheism is a Christian invention.” I think this is true. So, if you have a choice between truth and God, go with truth. Truth always leads to love, but your God? Well, he, she, it... may not be so charitable.
