My wife and I are parents of three children. Like any parent's world, our world was comprised of an interactive dance of energy between our three children. When our oldest died, the splitting of the three was an existential atomic blast. Our world has never been the same.
The Trinity is an interactive dance of energy between the three persons of that thing we have no other name for than God. When Jesus died, there was something akin to the splitting of an atom. I do not mean to say that The Father was at odds with The Son. Just that the splitting of the Three released a kind of atomic outburst of love. Our world has never been the same.
The world's only hope is love giving itself away. Power isn't strong enough. Fear never lasts. Punishment births resentment. Revenge only encourages retaliation. Our only hope is love.
One day, maybe very soon, there will be no more threats of atomic bombs or existential atomic blasts... there will only be the reality of love. That's our future. May we live by the sound of that detonation now.
